This week we learned that graphite crucibles are not the same as ceramic crucibles, even though a neighboring department stores them together underneath the muffle furnace :). We learned that graphite is made of carbon, which results in some very sad faces in the lab when we are conducting loss on ignition. Sarah and Emily lost lots of samples, luckily we have plenty of back-up soil.
J visit Ms McCraw's Biology class at Baker High School this week to talk about what life is like as a biologist and to talk about some of the fun, cool research we are conducting!
We are super excited to have senior undergrad Nikki Ricketts join the FUNGGii lab. She will be working with Darrien to understand how introductory biology faculty discuss controversial topics in their classrooms! Check out her profile on our people page!
